Our Low-Cost Digital Solution for Connecting PBXs to the Central Office |
Flexpath® service uses a T-1 1.544 Mbps circuit to provide a direct
digital connection between a digital Private Branch Exchange (PBX) and
the Bell Atlantic Central Office.
By combining the functionality for Direct Inward Dialing (DID), Direct Outward Dialing (DOD), and toll-free trunks into one service, Bell Atlantic’s Flexpath service streamlines operations for PBX systems. Its use of digital links also guarantees higher-quality voice communications than are possible with analog links. The PBX operates as a central switching device that handles all the
customer’s voice transmissions. The Bell Atlantic CO switches subscribers’
lines for local and long distance calling. The dedicated T-1 circuit that
connects the PBX and the CO consists of 24 channels. This digital connection
allows the voice signal to be reproduced precisely, eliminating the distortions
and electrical interference that are part of analog
